Chief Scientist, NIIT Ltd
Gregg Collins is the Principle Learning Scientist for NIIT worldwide. He received his Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Yale University in 1986. Dr. Collins was on the faculty of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 1985-89, and of Northwestern University from 1989-1996, where he was a member of the core faculty of Northwestern’s Institute for the Learning Sciences, a cross-disciplinary program founded in 1989 to perform pioneering research in learning science and educational technology.
Dr. Collins was one of the authors of Northwestern’s graduate program in Instructional Design. He was a co-founder of Cognitive Arts Corporation, which was incorporated in 1995 to commercialize learning approaches developed at Nothwestern, and became lead designer in 1996. Dr. Collins was named Senior Vice President for Instructional Design when NIIT Ltd. acquired Cognitive Arts in 2002, and subsequently was named Chief Learning Scientist of NIIT in 2016. During Dr. Collins’s tenure, instructional designs created at NIIT have won numerous international awards, and NIIT has consistently been recognized as a leader in the effective use of technology to support pedagogy, including recent, pioneering work in real time 3D, games, and virtual reality. Dr. Collins has published numerous articles in international journals and industry publications, and has spoken at a variety of conferences and seminars on learning science, education, and educational technology.
